This has been a week of not being able to wake up. Since I started working, I haven't had to get up before nine o'clock, and I haven't punched in either. However, the rules of the new company are quite "strict", with strict clock-in at nine in the morning and six in the evening. It's a bit of a challenge to my biological habits, but because it's close to home, it's still acceptable.
Personal life:
- Every time I start a new job, I always experience some discomfort, such as not feeling like drinking water or having no appetite. This week, I basically relied on convenience stores for breakfast and lunch (of course, the main reason is that I had my wisdom teeth removed and couldn't eat other food).
- I got my stitches removed yesterday, and the doctor said I can eat spicy food now. I'm so happy. I thought I would have to abstain from spicy food during the May Day holiday, and that would be really painful.
- I hope I can successfully get a train ticket and go home to have a barbecue and enjoy the delicious food my dad makes. I am grateful to the kind person who cancels their ticket, the train steward, 12306, and all the staff of the railway department.
- Even though it's almost May, the weather in Beijing has been quite unpredictable recently, with large temperature differences and sandstorms blowing in from Outer Mongolia. Every day is a dusty day.
- After humans reach adulthood, their complete perception of time should be from nine in the morning to twelve noon. It may be because I used to start work late in the morning, so I feel a bit idle at noon in the office, feeling like the company is getting ready for lunch. The main output time is in the afternoon and evening. But now, I start work at nine o'clock, and we have a morning meeting at nine-thirty. Every time, I think it's already eleven o'clock, but when I check the time, it's only ten o'clock. I wonder if there's a galaxy between nine o'clock and ten o'clock. I think this can be listed as one of the top ten unsolved mysteries.
- "The Outcast" Season 6 is truly a masterpiece of Chinese animation. This season has elevated the entire storyline, and I have to watch each episode twice to discover the details. Yesterday, I watched the tenth episode, "The End," and the first time I watched it, I thought the plot was inexplicable. How could the setup collapse after such a long build-up? All the outcasts died, and Suleiduo obtained the sixteen states of Yanyun, while Li Siyuan declared himself emperor. However, on the day of the coronation ceremony, it was Zhang Zifan who declared himself emperor. I even thought I had skipped an episode and watched it again to find some details. The anime used flashbacks to reveal the ending directly, and the process in between will be revealed later. Li Xingyun and Zhang Zifan teamed up to set a trap, and the outcasts didn't actually die, they were just acting for Suleiduo. But why did Zhang Zifan declare himself emperor under the name of Li Siyuan? That means a lot happened in the past half month, and it's possible that Li Siyuan also sent a letter (although this possibility is very low). Watching their growth all the way is quite emotional. From now on, there is no Li Xingyun or Zhang Zifan, only the handsome and bad Li Siyuan.
- I just got a posture correction cushion. I don't know if it will be useful.
Thoughts:
- I didn't have much time to read this week. Most of my energy was focused on getting familiar with my work. It's a completely different type of business compared to before. Joining this company shattered my fantasy about this industry. I thought it was a technical job, but it turned out to be more like manual labor, which really surprised me. However, since it's a field I haven't had specific exposure to, it still requires further observation.
- The reason the company hired me is to expand their business, but based on my current exposure, it's a different logic from what I'm good at. We used to provide solutions from a creative perspective. But now, the company is mainly data-driven. The logic is not absent, but it's mostly replicable thinking without much originality. If I were to do what they are currently doing, I wouldn't be able to continue. It would be an insult to my profession, and besides putting myself into a state of growth inertia, it wouldn't be helpful at all. Although work is about money, for me, the ability to learn is more important. At our age, our learning ability has already declined to some extent. If we don't expose ourselves to challenging work and things, we will eventually become stagnant in our comfort zone. So, we must strive to improve our ROI before the age of 30.
- As mentioned above, our previous work was mainly focused on creativity, which means it was unstable and not highly replicable. It was difficult for us to efficiently produce in large quantities. But now, the company's corporate culture emphasizes efficiency. How much do they care about it? Every morning, we have to discuss our work plan, report our progress in the afternoon, and do a work summary every evening. This formalized efficiency is excessive. If we were to use our previous work content, the work report might be a brainstorming session all day, but for the boss, it would mean nothing was done. So, the concept of efficiency first represents different things in different industries. This is the current difficulty and area that needs to be adjusted in my work.
Summary:
We are welcoming the first long holiday of this year. Let's be happy and wish everyone a happy May Day. Eat well, drink well, have fun, and take a good rest!
